TOMMY TANG, PIONEER OF THE U.S. THAI CUISINE MOVEMENT,

CREATES FIRST-EVER TOMMY TANG’S FROZEN SEAFOOD LINE

--  Sams Club Stores Named First U.S. Retailer For National Rollout --

LOS ANGELES –  October 24, 2007 – Celebrity chef and author, Tommy Tang, who gave millions of Americans their first real taste of Thai cuisine, has introduced a line of frozen seafood dishes. Tang, a powerful force in culinary innovation, launched the line with “Tommy Tang’s Won Ton Shrimp with Sweet Plum Dipping Sauce,” the first to be featured in all Sams Club stores.

Tang, a native of Thailand, developed the new frozen won ton product in response to consumers’ increasing desire for Asian inspired cuisine and an interest in serving these dishes at home. His relationships with some of Thailand’s top seafood suppliers proved valuable in developing recipes that are not only very tasty, but exceptionally affordable.

“Viewers of my PBS “Cooking and Travel” series know how much I love combining interesting flavors with a focus on health conscious cooking,” Tang said. “’Tommy Tang’s Won Ton Shrimp with Sweet Plum Dipping Sauce’ is an excellent example of an easy to prepare appetizer or main dish, featuring the exotic flavors of Thai cuisine,” he explained.  The product, which comes in 43-45 pieces per box along with the sauce, will retail for $11.64 and will be available in all Sam’s Club stores as of the first week of November 07’.

Handmade, featuring all natural ingredients and 0 grams trans fat, “Tommy Tang’s Won Ton Shrimp with Sweet Plum Dipping Sauce” can be prepared by simply removing the shrimp wontons from the box and baking them for 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees.  The dipping sauce can be heated by placing the closed pouch in hot water during this same time frame.

Tommy Tang, who, along with Wolfgang Puck, was one of the two original Celebrity Chefs, was the major force on Americans’ appreciation for Thai cuisine. Tang, who opened his first restaurant in 1982, has authored numerous cookbooks ……Appearing on hundreds of television shows throughout his 30-year career as a top chef, Tang is currently the host of  his own PBS Cooking and Travel Series “Lets Get Cooking w/ Tommy Tang” for the last 10 years, which airs nationwide.
